What do you mean by "alphabet"?  
 
There are different types of writing systems, such as alphabets (English), syllabaries (Japanese), logographic systems (Chinese), abjads (Arabic), abugidas (Devanagari), and featural systems (Korean).  
 
What type of system is SignWriting?

Steve wrote (among other things):  The SignWriting Alphabet is going to be released under the Open Font License for public use.  The SignWriting user is able to read and write with the sign language alphabet and communicate without spoken language or video.
