Salary:
The appointment, which will be made on the Lecturer salary scale i.e.
€37,343 - €75,365 / €77,875 - €85,599 per annum. The commencing salary
will not exceed the 7th point on the scale i.e. €50,502 per annum
The School of Linguistic, Speech and Communication Sciences seeks to
make an appointment at this time as part of the implementation of the
College's and School's strategic plans.
Strategic Innovation Funding (SIF II) funding has been secured for a
three year period (2008-2011) to develop a third level Diploma and
Degree programme for blended learning delivery nationwide in a project
developed by the Centre for Deaf Studies, TCD and the Department of
Informatics, Institute of Technology Blanchardstown .
The School wishes to appoint a project manager with respect to this
project.
The successful candidate for this post will be expected to provide
operational management on a day to day basis to further the goals of
the project. He/she will have responsibility for the delivery of
project milestones over its three-year lifespan. The project manager
will be expected to proactively liaise with project stakeholders and
nationwide local delivery partners. They will be responsible for
reporting, administration and compliance requirements in line with the
Strategic Innovation Fund. They will also be responsible for ensuring
that best practice principles are applied to all aspects of the project.
Candidates must have a postgraduate qualification in Deaf Studies,
Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Informatics or a related field. A
minimum of two years post-qualification experience in industry or
education is required. Teaching experience at third level and an
established interest in online learning and innovative methods of
delivery are highly desirable.
The appointee will contribute to the lecturing programme of the School
and may be required to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate
supervision. This will include some teaching (blended and traditional)
in Dublin and as necessary, on site in major regional centres
associated with this project is expected. This will, on occasion,
include evening/weekend work. In addition, the candidate will be
expected to participate in departmental administration and contribute
to research linked to this project. Fluency in Irish Sign Language is
highly desirable. Specifically, the role will involve:
• regular client contact and relationship building
• development of links with education providers to roll out the SIF
II Deaf Studies Programme
• working as a key member of a small, enthusiastic and proactive team
• Educational product innovation, involvement in educational
opportunity development, ensuring sustainability for the programme.
