[Slling-l] 2nd Call for Papers - 7th International Conference on Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice (ALAPP)

We are pleased to announce the second call for papers for the 7th International Conference on Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice (ALAPP), which will be hosted by the Research Centre for Multilingual Practice and Language Learning in Society and held at Ghent University, Belgium, 21 - 23 November 2017.

The ALAPP conference brings together scholars from different disciplinary backgrounds, especially language and communication research and professional specialities (e.g. business, education, health, immigration and border control, journalism, law, organizational practice & administration, police work, research, therapy, social care and welfare, translation and interpreting). ALAPP welcomes contributions on any topic linking professional and occupational practice and development with language and communication issues.

1.     Dorte LØNSMANN (Copenhagen Business School)


2.     Martha L. KOMTER (The Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement)


3.     This year's Candlin Lecture will be given by Greg MYERS (Linguistics, Lancaster University).

Invited Panels


1.     Working with Language Impairments in Sign Language (coordinated by Bencie Woll, UCLondon)


2.     Multiprofessional Meetings (coordinated by Dorte Caswell, UAalborg; Chris Hall, UDurham & Kirsi Juhila, UTampere)


3.     Language, Meaning and Professional Diagnosis. Engaging with the work of Aaron Cicourel (if you consider submitting to this panel, please contact alapp at ugent.be<mailto:alapp at ugent.be>)

Proposals include panels, roundtables and individual presentations (oral or poster). The deadline for submissions is 15 April 2017.
