Hi all,
Organizers at Semantics and Linguistic Theory have been thinking
purposefully about how to make their subdiscipline/conference more
inclusive and equitable. To that end, they have put together the workshop
below, which will feature ASL interpretation.
Please spread the word!
Best,
Natasha

The day before this year’s SALT conference, there will be a two-hour
satellite workshop on making teaching in Semantics and Pragmatics more
inclusive and equitable, with an eye towards welcoming groups currently
underrepresented in the subfield. The workshop will concentrate on two
areas: (1) making the content of semantics classes more inclusive,
including syllabus revisions and example data from a broader range of
source languages and language varieties; and (2) making the style of
pedagogy more inclusive and welcoming to all students. The forum will
include an optional final hour to facilitate unstructured discussions among
attendees.
Registration is free, via the main SALT conference registration form
<https://saltconf.github.io/salt31/registration.html>, and registered
participants will receive a link to the virtual event. ASL interpretation
will be provided and may be requested during the registration process.
