For those of us who happen to be using MacOS X, the latest releast
(10.2, aka "Jaguar") handles Unicode pretty much right out the can. One
caveat for Right-to-Left scripts like Arabic, is that you get better
support out of UTF-16 than UTF-8... the single-byte version places
punctuation on the wrong side of the line. To wit..
