Smile! Ha! You are using California slang in Germany now? ;-)
Back when I was a teenager, going to a California high school, in the
mid-1960's, there were lots of surfers. As you know, California has
beautiful beaches and we lived close to the beach at that
time..Southern California is famous for surfing beaches, and I lived
near one of the famous surfing beaches when I was a teenager...Some of
my classmates were surfers and would surf at 4:00 in the morning,
before coming to school everyday. The surfers were the "in
crowd"...they were the popular ones! And around that time, the slang
"far out!" started to be used frequently, along with "wipe out"! which
meant you fell off a wave, when you were surfing...so "wipe out" was a
negative comment, but "far out" was positive - Ha!
So thanks for the positive message, Stefan!
