going vectorial

Hello,
A (naive) question : How hard would it be to have SSS 2004 available in
vectorial format?
There are many free vectorial applications - the gimp now supports vectorial
formats, and is available for window.
I'm asking because I would like to work on a font - redrawing everything by hand
to be vectorial sounds like a bad idea, especially if everything could be
vectorial at the source.
This would help creating pdfs, etc. and maybe a true type font (pending unicode
support)
