[sw-l] DVD formatting around the world...;-)

I don't know alot about it, but apparently the industry has divided the
world into Regions. And each region has its own format. So for example,
I think the US is in Region 1 but UK is in Region 2. I know of one DVD
movie that is out for Region 2 but not for Region 1. So US viewers
cannot see it without having a Region 2 DVD player.

Again, I haven't researched it much, but I wonder too if it has
something to do with the different TV standards in each country. I
might go browsing to see if I can find anything on the web about it.

It may also be that there are different versions of MPEG. I noticed you
called it an MPEG2. Perhaps you only have the software to read MPEG
version 1? Again, I haven't yet gotten fully into the video stuff yet,
so I am only guessing.

Thanks,

Stuart
