I know what you mean - there's only one wing and besides, it's hard to see
because it's on the opposite side of the hand from the listener.

All the same, it was immediately clear to me when Caroline signed it. I
suppose that as long as you can see a bit of the thumb, you're mind knows
what the whole hand is doing and "gets the picture".

Yes, but I think what I'll do is get Caroline to sign it and take photos of
her - if she doesn't mind! This way we would all see what I saw, and not
just my interpretation of it. Give me a week or so and I'll get back to you!

As I said in an earlier mail, parhaps it's poetic or humorous sign-play
rather than "proper" BSL, but we do want to be able to write poetry and
jokes, don't we?
