IMWA Handshape Construction and Sequencing continued...
There are 15 possible Rootshapes. They have a sequence too (see
attached diagram).
For example, the Index Finger (an Action Finger), could be attached to
any one of these Rootshapes...Even the Flat Hand, can have the Index
Finger separate from the other fingers, so Index Action can happen with
all of them. But how many signed languages need all those Rootshapes
attached to the Index Finger? ASL does not need all of them...This will
vary depending on the signed language...(continued next message)...
