SignWriting List
September 22, 2004

Hello Stephen -
Thanks for all these new features...I have not tried them yet, but I
will...and I will write next with my feedback...

Regarding terminology and buttons...The word flip and flop got so
confusing that we called it the Mirror Key in SignWriter, and I hope we
can use the same term for SignMaker? Or are you flopping down and up,
and not a Mirror?

Tapping on the Mirror Key in SignWriter, gives the mirror image of the
same symbol. And in that sense, some facial expression symbols do have
a mirror image...For example, if you type the right eye in
SignWriter...you can then tap on the Mirror Key, which gives you the
left eye...

The Fill Key is important. If you have a handshape selected, and you
tap on the Fill Key, it changes the Fills...which means palm facings
for the hands. Being able to tap through all the palm facings is
wonderful. In the Movement Symbol category, the Fill Key changes the
fill in the arrowhead...the dark and light arrowheads mean left and
right movement...

And in the faces, the Fill Key is used for the right and left halves of
the face... And in Category 5 and 6, it is used for "related
symbols"...

So we need a Fill Key, a Rotation Key, a Mirror Key, a Variation
Key...and if we are typing, a Cursor Key to place the cursor in the
next position where we want to place the next symbol...

Val ;-)
