Hello Valerie, Stephan and all,
I agree with Stephan's spelling. To me, a hand pointing to the left or the right should be shown on the side view. It is clearer than top view in showing where the palm facing is but only for that orientation. The other hands, because they are out and at and angle, MUST be shown from the top to show the exact angle at 45 degrees, which the next view with the left hands from the side does not show.
The bottom spelling doesn't help at all for me, as it does not show the bottom hands accurately for the sign in question. They are not writing the same handshapes in the same orientations, because the left hand is out and at 45 degrees, and there are only two of those four drawings that show that. The top hand hits the bottom palms or backs of the hands at a 45 degree angle across the hand not a 90 degree angle.

Thank you, Stefan, for this comment. Different viewpoints within one
sign do not bother me personally, but if it bothers your Deaf students,
then we should listen to them.
Let's have some fun! Here are 4 SignSpellings. 4 different ways to
write the SAME sign for Northern Ireland...Yes...I added 3 more to the
Northern Ireland SignPuddle.... So we actually have 7 spellings for the
same sign!
Look at Number 4. The right hands are seen from the Front View, looking
at the sides of the right hand. The left hands are written from the Top
View, looking down on them parallel to the floor...The Top View is
mixed with the Front View in one sign...That is what Stefan
means...Does that bother you?
And look at Numbers 5, 6 and 7...Those spellings do not mix viewpoints.
Can you read them? There is something new in one of them...Ask
questions!
