Dear SW List, and Adam!
Thank you for this question. I feel that the simple spelling, with  
the least amount of detail, should be the first entry in the  
dictionary. The more detailed spellings can follow, for researchers,  
or for pronunciation guides.

Let me explain. Take a look at the attached diagram, showing the sign  
MAKE in ASL. Although there is a twist in the movement, writing the  
two positions without any complicated movement symbols, is the  
spelling that is easiest to read and write...By writing the beginning  
and ending positions, the twist is assumed....continued next message...
