NAD Conference 2006

Is there anyone who would like to join me to teach a SignWriting  
workshop at the National Association of the Deaf (the NAD) conference  
this summer? I would like to fill our their forms and apply to teach  
a SignWriting workshop...Who can help me? Adam? Anyone else  
attending? smile...I would love to have some SignWriting team members!

Proposals Sought

The National Association of the Deaf is seeking proposals for  
creative, exciting, and informative workshops for the 48th Biennial  
NAD Conference to be held at the Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort in  
the Palm Springs, California area, June 29-July 3, 2006. The theme of  
the conference is: "Change Today for Tomorrow".

The workshop program will be broad-based with emphasis on acceptance  
of those proposals that provide practical applications to every day  
life. See the topic area suggestions below. Workshop propopsals are  
not limited to these topics. Individuals may submit more than one  
proposal, but please be sure to use one form for each.

Workshop Audiences

Workshop audiences will consist of deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind,  
and hearing participants of all ages and backgrounds from across the  
country and beyond. There will be federal and state government  
employees and employers, private sector and community leaders,  
interpreters, educational professionals, parents, senior citizens as  
well as youth participants.

Presentation Specifications

Presentation Length
There will be 60 and 90 minute workshop time slots.
Presentation Format
Presentation - A lecture or paper on a topic of interest or issue.
Workshop - Hands-on experience to learn and apply new skills or  
Panel - Three to five panelists focusing on a substantive topic or  
Deadline for submission of proposals: March 10, 2006
Workshop Dates/Times
June 29 from 12:30-2:00pm and 2:30-4:00pm
June 30-July 3 from 8:30-10:00am, 10:30-11:30am, 1:00-2:00pm, and

Quality of proposal (rationale, objectives, organization)
Practical application to every day life
Innovation and creativity

Completion of proposal package
Selection Process
Presenters will be notified by email of acceptance or rejection of  
proposal on an ongoing basis (until all slots are filled), as  
proposals are received and reviewed.
Presenters whose proposals are accepted, must notify NAD of  
participation no later than April 10, 2006.
Important Notes
Presenters and co-presenters are required to register for the  
conference. Conference registration information can be found on the

Presenters and co-presenters are responsible for their own travel,  
conference fees and the rental of audio-visual equipment beyond the  
projection screen that will be provided. The NAD will not provide  
overhead or LCD projectors. Information on rental of such equipment  
from NAD audio-visual vendor will be provided. You may bring your own.
Presenters and co-presenters are responsible for provision of  
Internet access, if required for their presentation. Information will  
be provided.
Workshops will have CART/Interpreter services.
