SignWriting List
February 3, 2006

Congratulations to Cherie! You are the first person to send a
sentence using the new SignText Mail program. This is the first time
we have been able to send SignWriting through email, without being
required to type a word-gloss to get the sign. The new email section
of SignText does not require any glosses. It is a way to compose
directly in the movements of signed languages, rather than using
spoken language to access the signs...and you can do it directly on
the web with no need to download any software:

SignText
http://signbank.org/signpuddle/signtext/signtext.html

Some computers cannot accept the pngs that are sent from SignText or
SignPuddle, but others can. Most email that is accessed on the web,
like Yahoo or Hotmail, can read pngs, and there is no problem on Mac
OS X...

For those who could not read the pngs on their email software, here
is a screen capture of the email sentence Cherie sent us with
SignText Mail. It is written directly in the movements of ASL!
