SignWriting List
March 15, 2006
Dear SW List Members!
We have several new members to the List from several
countries...Welcome to you all....smile....
SignWriting is a way to write any Sign Language. It is not just for
writing American Sign Language. It is used in around 40 countries
now, to write the native signed languages that exist in each country.
So if you need help to learn to write your Sign Language, feel free
to write to the List and ask questions...That is the purpose of this
List...is to learn to read and write any Sign Language in the world.
You are welcome to write email in ANY spoken language too...not just
English....we have messages in French, German, Spanish,
Portuguese...any language that uses the Roman Alphabet is welcome!
I wish we could write in Arabic, Russian, Chinese and other languages
that do not use the Roman Alphabet, but the List software that
controls the List messages cannot read those messages as far as I
know...although you are welcome to try and we can see what happens - ha!
I love receiving questions on the List!!
So ask anytime!
Val ;-)
