Query on Brazilian Sign Language and update of SW For Everyday Use

You will need to ask Marianne to add this information, or maybe she  
should wait for me to put some of the symbols into the ISWA! Other  
books will not include all the symbols in the ISWA too...in time I  
hope to re-write my own books in English and ASL....

So I would vote to wait before we ask people to add symbols...let me  
post the ISWA first...we are hoping for January...

Now, your question regarding the open fist and the tight fist, for  
the number 6 in ASL...If the symbol has a square as a base, that is  
supposed to represent a tight fist...so the thumb is pressing the  
baby finger tightly against the palm with the square symbol...

And the circle base means the tips of the baby finger and thumb are  
touching each other...

I don't believe we have a cupped C base for the 6 handshape...that is  
what it would be if the fingertips do not touch...

So here is the question...does the 6 handshape with the fingertips  
not touching really have a different linguistic meaning in Brazilian  
Sign Language compared to the one that has the fingertips touch? If  
there is a distinct different meaning between the two, then the  
symbol needs to be added to the ISWA, but if it is only a matter of  
style of signing then I would rather not add it...there are literally  
hundreds of situations like that...where a relaxed version of a  
symbol would become another symbol if we try to write style  
differences...D and the INdex hand have linguistic differences in  
ASL, but not in Danish Sign Language...so it really does depend on  
the Sign Language being written...
