Hi Adam -
There are two ways to know the difference....

1. If you add the Shoulder Line, then you know it is the chest that  
is being contacted, however, we are not required to use the Shoulder  
Line at all times...it depends on the writer...

2. If there are little Finger Arrows near the Rub Symbol, then it  
cannot be confused with contacting the chest...


And then there is simply "context"...if you feel it will be confused,  
then be sure to add the Shoulder Line, but usually when reading a  
long document it probably will be clear what you mean, from the  
meaning in the rest of the sentence...

What is the sign you are trying to write?
