Hoi,
Asking people to make sure that they have an "up to date" version of MS
software means that you insist on people to spend money. There are many
people that do not have this money to spend. It is also not a guarantee the
problem / issue will be solved in this way...

It makes better sense to use Open Office. There is no cost involved in
maintaining the latest version of this software.
