Everyone be sure to use SignWriting (one word), it's a specific name, and else it gets confused with writing billboards (hah-hah).

Thanks for all of your feedback. More teachers always welcome. This conference is open to everyone from USA, Europe, Asia, North, Central & South America, Australia, Oceania, and Africa (I don't think there is anyone currently signing to penguins in Antarctica).

Once we finalize prices and dates, I will post a proposal here.

I just finished my second semester in linguistics. I would love to participate this fall.
I think it would be interesting to look at ASL grammar in particular, and how Sign Writing
is a viable alternative to traditional approaches to Conversational Analysis transcriptions.

Sign Writing reinforces the depth and diversity of ASL as a language versus a
CA transcription with English words depicting ASL word order. Sign Writing further
preserves the integrity of ASL and shows the depth of gesture, expression, and
inflection.

Let me know how I can help out.

Dear everyone on the Sign Writing List,

I have begun to talk with Kellogg Center at Gallaudet University and should be getting back a proposal within the week for a conference this fall.

As soon as I have a proposal, I will be working on a funding plan for covering the hotel costs, meal costs, and presentations.

This conference will be open to everyone interested in Sign Writing and its use in linguistics, particularly literacy in its true sense, reading, writing, and studying sign languages in print, and using Sign Writing in academic studies.

I propose having both linguistic classes and basic training in Sign Writing available during the conference, and currently envision a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday conference with arrival on Thursday night. We are working on a meal plan both through Kellogg Center and through the three restaurants on Gallaudet Campus to see what is most advantageous.

Sign Writing Linguistic Society Conference is the working title for the conference and is currently a private venture, not yet incorporated.

I'm calling Kellogg Center at Gallaudet University to inquire about having a Sign Writing forum there sometime in the fall of 2009 or the spring of 2010.

I need at least 8 people interested in attending before I try to get the word out more locally. I'm hoping for presentations and posters from various U.S.-based groups.]

Once I hear back from the Conference Center and can post approximate costs for stay so that we know how many people and how much per person to make this conference viable.

Hello Anny and SignEcriture Members!

Congratulations on your first general assembly. The photos and
slideshow are so well done... Your cabin is charming...It looks like a
movie of Switzerland ;-))

And it feels like we were there with you. We have met all the
participants face to face...

And there you are using SignPuddle on your computer, and demonstrating
from the ASL Picture Dictionary...how nice...

By the way, did you get your PocketPuddle re-installed on your
Macintosh? It looks like you had SignPuddle on your computer so I hope
that means all is working well for you now...

Anyway...I am excited to see the pictures...

Thanks for sharing with us -

Val ;-)
