Hello Gerard and everyone -

Yes. This has already happened. At the First European SignWriting
Symposium in Brussels, Belgium, 2005, we setup a videophone, thanks to
the invaluable help of Daniel Noelpp who made that possible, and also
Kasterlinden School in Belgium (thank you Kathleen and Sarah!). I
spoke to the Symposium briefly from my office here in California, at
the very beginning of the Symposium. It was a lot of fun! But it was a
very short connection, and a little confusing with so many people
there, and I could not see all of the people in the room...So I
learned from that experience that it might be better for future
conferences, if we did such a presentation to small groups...maybe
five people at most at one time...that could be an ongoing feature of
the conference...to meet with me by videophone or by Skype or by some
other amazing technology!

So, yes, Gerard, if you know of a conference where someone would want
to talk with me through technology availabe at the conference, just
put me in contact with them and we can arrange a meeting or
presentation...

It is great to hear that you presented a little on SignWriting in
Aarhus. I also presented SignWriting once in Aarhus, back in the early
1980's when SignWriting was used in the Danish schools...I can't even
remember the exact place of my presentation at the University of
Aarhus at the time...it was so long ago....but I remember having a
great experience talking with software developers in the cafeteria
there, afterwards....that was before personal computers were the norm,
yet we were discussing the programming of SignWriting anyway...little
could we imagine the amazing software of today, directly on the web,
where everyone can share documents and dictionaries...I am happy that
SignWriting software has taken this public direction, so everyone can
write and share...

Aarhus is a beautiful city!

And thanks for your ongoing support of SignWriting...

Val ;-)
