Hi Honza -
For me, I feel it is not necessary to write so much detail. I think in
this case, you can assume that people will know that the hands wave
along with the movement...why make it harder for the reader?
You can choose to be detailed and write exactly what you see, but that
is for research.
You can also choose to write in the most simple SignWriting as
possible, to make it easier for the reader...
Here is how I write signs:
1. I write the simplest writing possible, that I believe others who
already know the sign language, could read.
2. I then ask myself: "Is there another sign that could be confused
with this simple writing?"
3. If the answer is yes, then you put in more detail.
4. But if there is no other sign that can be confused with the
writing, then you keep it simple.
I think it would be very rare that there could be a sign, where the
hands would remain with the fingers pointing to the sky, while the
arms wave forward...can you think of such a sign in Czech Sign Language?
Another idea is to ask people to read the sign, to see if they produce
the movement properly from the writing...If they keep the fingers
pointing to the sky, and wave the arms, then you will know that you
need to show the palm facing change...
Anyway...let's keep writing as simple as possible...because there is
still a lot of detail there in the face, which is necessary
grammatically...so the reader still has a lot to figure out
anyway...smile...
So those are my thoughts...if you want to put in the palm facing
change, Honza, of course do that if you feel it is necessary...
Val ;-)
