Cultures differ indeed. As far as I know, Norwegian SL is unique (?) in that several standard Norwegian names have standard sign versions. This means that most namesigns are not personal, but sign version of the person's spoken/ speechwritten name. Fingerspelling is used only as inroduction to foreign names, and quickly repalced by signs.
NSL do also have personal name signs, either because the name is not a common one, or because that person has 'earned' it in some way (by caracteristics or deeds or otherways). Stadard namesigns are mostly preffered, as far as I know.
