Dear Valerie, Steve and all,

I must agree with all that has been said about your amazing- truly amazing
work! It is all avant-guarde and as Stefan noted many linguists are not
even yet aware of these developments!

I strongly believe that SignWriting will soon bring about major changes in
sign linguistic research! It is a tool that MUST be used by all sign
linguists - as a common ground for sharing sign linguistic phenomena.

Just as the IPA for spoken languages was needed to make sure linguists
were not misunderstanding each other when they talked about the sounds of
languages, so too SignWriting is REQUIRED to make sure that people
researching sign languages are talking about the same
movements/handshapes/facial expressions etc etc etc. ONLY SignWriting can
fill the huge gap in sign linguistic research - this gap being a common
metalinguistic tool, to compare, discuss, argue about sign language
phenomena.

I too have been using SW for almost 10 years now!! I believe in it with
all my heart, and I am determined to continue using the tools you have
developed to prove and try to push forward the idea that SignWriting is a
necessary and crucial tool for serious sign linguistic research.
