Jonathan, I think it depends on the bugs. As long as the known bugs
aren't critical to basic functions then you could release it with a list
of the known bugs to a group of registered beta-testers. It's really
your call, though - whenever you feel comfortable with other people
testing and trying it out.

I haven't used the Gnome desktop at all and the few Gnome programs I
installed on the KDE desktop worked fine. There's a lot of work done
and being done to provide compatibility between the two. It's all
Ubuntu anyways, which is built from Debian.
