AW: [sw-l] Understanding a sign

Hi Charles

It is interesting to compare different spellings in SW. Following the link
to this PEACOCK sign I would write it like this

I do not know why he signs the “bird” with his right hand and the “tail”
with the left – just using the right hand as a platform for the elbow.
Probably other signers would perform both parts of this combined sign with
the same hand?

Stefan ;-)

Hmm. I don't know the sign in production, but at least one variant I have
seen (look at mine with the bird and full sweep from Signing Savvy) actually
does move forward and back. I should have a change in palm facing but I'm
away from the editor.

I have not seen the sign in Cecilia Flood's sign in video, so I'm not sure.
Adam what do you think?

Exept, of course, that Adam's is so easily readable that if you know it is
supposed to be the sign for 'peacock', you may not even notice that the
arrow is written single-stemmed when it should have been double-stemmed -
sorry all

Ingvild

Agreed - Adam's is easy to read, while you would have to think for a while
(and change the palm facing) to read the original one

Not doable at all, as far as I can see... the palm facing of the fist is
just wrong. But I prefer Adam's writing, myself.

Now that is clear. I guess we need that variant in the SignPuddle now as
the first one is simply not easily doable.

I'm trying to understand this sign.  I'm not sure where the surfaces are;
and I don't seem to be able to duplicate this sign.
