Hello Charles!
Thank you for this message. And thank you for your efforts to  
establish a course, workshop or presentation on SignWriting on the  
east coast of the United States...I sure wish that would happen too...

There are only 135 members on the SW List right now, and most of them  
live and work outside of the United States. With only 135 members,  
there are representatives from around 20 countries...so you can see  
there are not that many located in the eastern part of the United  
States on the SW List.

So how did the workshops (and yes, there will be several) on  
SignWriting get established in Lisbon, Portugal, next week? it was  
arranged by signwriters who are not on the SW List...Some of the  
coordinators of the SignWriting events next week had been in touch  
with me for years...maybe three or four years back...and now finally  
we are so blessed that one of the Universities involved was able to  
pay for Adam's way to Lisbon...without that financial aid we could not  
have sent Adam...so it is a miracle and we are all so happy!!

So to establish some workshops or courses on SignWriting in the  
Washington DC area, we need to contact signwriters who live and work  
in the area...how to reach them is the question...but it can be done...

There are more users of SignWriting off the List than on...most  
signwriters don't even know about the List is my guess...although I  
certainly do tell everyone about it...

After Adam returns from Portugal on September 14th, maybe we can  
brainstorm more about the Washington DC area...

I am preparing a new special feature on our web site about Adam's  
teaching next week in Lisbon...there will be a course and other  
presentations too in Lisbon next week...
