Hi Steve, Honza, Andre, Adam - and so many of you - related to the Facial Expression discussion yesterday -

I have been trying to read all the messages from yesterday and feel a little overwhelmed, but I am getting through them all…

The answer Steve, to your question below, is yes…the symbol attached does not exist as far as I can find (grin) in the current ISWA 2010 ;-)

But…ironically…it DID exist back in the IMWA 2004…..At least that is my memory of it…but it was in the Mouth section at the end and not in the Tongue section because it really wasn't needed at the time and it confused people...

Then Ingvild Roald, from Norway, needed more definition of exactly where the tongue was when it was so tightly being pressed by the lips - a little bit on the upper lip, or a little bit on the lower lip, but still pressed together…Here are pictures:

So now we know that in the Czech Republic they need it dead center…so the symbol needs to return but it needs to be placed in the Tongue Group and not the Mouth Group...

The biggest issue with changing symbol sets is asking other programmers to change their software too… Like SignWriter Studio - when we changed from the ISWA 2008 to the ISWA 2010, Jonathan lost some of his really cool searches on documents and the document-creator part of SignWriter Studio had to be re-vamped, so if we add an addendum of new symbols to the ISWA 2010 let us be sure we are not hurting anyone else's software development…and that we can continue to search each other's documents between the multiple programs that use the ISWA 2010.

I want to answer everyone's questions from yesterday shortly if I can…with one message ;-)

It is coming!

Val ;-)

Symbols will not be added individually, but in packs. This is the first facial expression I've seen that we might want to consider adding to a list of potentials. Not saying we should, only that we could. I know that conceptually, Stefan will probably need additional mouth shapes. Is there estimate on the number of new facial expressions that we'll need to consider?
