Hello Claudia and Joe -

I believe Joe is on this List … and I will email Joe privately too…(Hi Joe - correct me if there is anything inaccurate below)...

It is my understanding that this was an article Joe wrote, without it ever being published elsewhere - Joe gave it to me to post, because he wanted people to know about it and read it and use it. So if you do not hear from Joe, I would suggest that you cite the SignWriting web site as the publisher, and give the url for the document, which is free for download.

And by the way, not everyone agrees with terminologies - there are different terminologies used within the SignWriting community - there have been lively discussions about SignWriting terminology in the past - so it is an interesting topic - I think terminology in spoken languages, describing sign languages and the writing of sign languages, is inadequate at best…because people see language so differently - but I am very glad that Joe wrote this article, and if there are others who would like to write articles about your terminology describing SignWriting I will be happy to post it too - smile - Thank you for sharing with us, Joe -
