SIGNWRITING LITERACY PROJECT 2012

In 2012, donated SignWriting books, dvds and software will be available to teachers with signing students, deaf or hearing, in any country in the world.

Are you teaching students who use a sign language? Do you want to teach using SignWriting and need SignWriting materials?

Want to Participate?

Dear Teacher:
If you teach students who use a signed language to communicate, in a school, in a homeschool setting, or as a tutor, you are welcome to participate in the SignWriting Literacy Project.

We will need two things from you to begin the project….a Letter of Request and a Teacher's Report.


Part 1: Letter of Request
Please fill out the Letter of Request (see form below), with your signature, and post it to the SignWriting List:

Dear Valerie,
The teachers of the ___________grade, at the ____________School, in the city of ___________ would like to participate in your SignWriting Literacy Project. We are part of the _______________School District, in the state and country of _________ (or explain you are a private tutor or teacher).

Some information about our signing students and/or our classroom and/or our school _____________________(write as much as you can about your teaching environment)……..

We would like to introduce SignWriting to our students. We are interested in learning and using SignWriting because_______________________. We have approximately _________number of students who will be participating in the Literacy Project.
We agree to complete the Teacher's Report in return for the SignWriting materials and technical support you donate to us. We understand that this letter and all reports and communications about the use of the donated materials will become public information and will be posted to the SignWriting List and posted on the SignWriting Web Site. You have our full permission to use the information as needed, regarding the SignWriting materials you have donated to us. We will give you feedback on how to improve the materials, and how the students and teachers use them.
