I still, however, will need a webcam, mine is broken and my computer does not come with an automatic camera.

Hello Charles!
This is great, that you are preparing your presentation. As you all know, I hope you all will prepare videos and slide presentations and written papers, which I will post on your web page no matter what, so visitors before and after, can view your presentation in depth.
But the live streaming is like standing in front of the podium and in 20 minutes to 30 minutes, you will, sitting in front of your computer, give a little speech, telling people live about your work, and then people will ask you questions…just like presenting at a conference.
The Symposium is not on Skype. It has nothing to do with Skype.
The Symposium is on Google Hangouts. It is another kind of software, and it is free and easy to use. We will teach you how to use the software before the event so you feel ready.
And you do not have to record your own presentation. Google is doing that for us. The entire Symposium - all of the presentations - will be recorded and streamed live on YouTube while we are presenting.
So no worries ;-)
Val ;-)

I am working on my presentation, starting with the overview and then the first chapter of the dictionary. I will have my new camera then so that I hope we can go through my presentation page by page with discussion a I can't figure out how to record Skype.

Maybe we can take questions in advance from the community and answer the most popular questions live. Presenters might be able to answer the questions in more depth privately with the questioners later. We will try to provide a place on the web for those answers to be posted.

>What technology will you need to present? Google Hangouts works on most computers, Android and Apple devices, so you can connect with everyone, and no one gets left out. So this means you could present from an iPad or iPhone, but if you have a computer with a wider screen, it might be better only because of the larger screen may show more to the viewers, if you are pointing to diagrams etc…I am not sure about this yet and will find out.

the amazing projects around the world.
