Hello Erika and everyone -
Yes. Your opinions and verification of SignWriting’s value, on letterhead, with your academic credentials and affiliation as a Professor and Chair of the Anthropology Dept at Oberlin College, would be a wonderful recommendation to all who are skeptical or who simply do not understand why write sign language?
And I know so many of you, here on the List, have already written such great letters back in 1999 and I plan to show them those letters too…but I know they will immediately say…Well what about in 2014?
We just had a very successful Symposium, but most of the world doesn’t know that yet…Even when we do more publicity, like publishing the proceedings, most people do not understand the issues of deafness, and the fact that sign languages are real languages, and all the basics that we take for granted…
So when the lady administering the grant asked me “How is SignWriting changing lives”…I realized that it was time for me to gather some letters from users again -
So yes, Erika - I will be grateful for your letter on letterhead - and others too, even if you do not have letterhead - if you are willing to put your name on it, that will be enough -
Thank you, and if you feel it can be exposed publicly, please tell me, so we can post it here on the list and on our site as well - if not I need to know that of course -
