[Sw-l] SW math problem solving

Andre,

ISBN numbers??? What are you picturing here?

We worked with a group of about 25 children in a one room shack. In the beginning, we developed reading lessons using paper, scissors, scotch tape, an MS-DOS program for SW and a photocopier. Later, we relied on Word programs, SNAG IT software, a photocopier, a little punching device, and binders. We would produce about 30 copies in my living room. We are a shoestring operation.

You can download section by section the first edition of the ISN Handbook by going to www.nicaraguansignlanguageprojects.org (ironically, the only thing around here that does have an ISBN number). We are developing a substantially expanded second edition at this time.

Examples of SW stories in ISN are available on the SignWriting website and sometimes just by searching the internet. I will try to send you one in a moment. You can get the general idea from seeing any one of these adaptations -- and if you find one story thoroughly mystifying, looking at 40 more won't help.

My wife is connected with USM, but I developed all these materials and I am not connected with anything.
