SignWriting List
March 24, 2015

Thank you, Stefan and André, for your enthusiasm and for visiting me in our last SignWriting Open Office!

I think we are gaining much from this Open Office concept and later, when my life is a little less hectic, maybe I can expand the hours to be more flexible for everyone - I am sorry, Tini, that we missed each other but we will learn together how to connect soon -

I want to encourage you, Stefan, and all of the developers of DELEGS software, that sounds so terrific now with new features, to please post more messages on the SignWriting List about your new accomplishments.

One request I have for DELEGS is to use flags and other internationally-recognized symbols to help people navigate. I need a flag for Germany, a flag for the US, a flag for French-Canada, a flag for France, a flag for Slovenia, and the name of the country or the country code right near the flag, for navigation, that will be completely without need of speaking any spoken language - you can look at the flag and that will take you to the country’s files that you want to work with -

I know flags are not perfect - there can be other ways to give people instant non-verbal ways of accessing their dictionary - whatever works will be great -

I want to use DELEGS and SignWriter Studio and SWift programs...

And while we are on the subject of navigation - the same is true for SignPuddle Online - Stefan and André suggested that I place the flags on the bottom of the dictionary pages in alphabetical order by the country code rather than in the strange order we have right now so I agree and I will try to make that change in the future -

I love your art, Stefan!!! Very cute and really educational too...

SignMaker 2015, developed by Steve Slevinski, is close to being a usable product on iPads, iPhones and computer desktops - I just tested saving, deleting and changing entries into the SignMaker dictionary on an iPad - very exciting - SignMaker will also be using the flags and country codes for navigation into the different dictionaries - so SignPuddle dictionaries can be loaded into SignMaker 2015 …

So much ongoing accomplishment ...

Val ;-)

And well – talking about different aspects of SignWriting, having exchange about episodes of the history and development of SignWriting is really a good source to clarify questions and to focus on actual projects....

Do not know whether this idea is clear enough within our SW-family. I think this aspect deserves to be mentiones at least twelve times a year ... smile.
