I tried the link and it took me to a point and click model on my MAC. I will have to try the PC. I couldn't get it to work at all. Sigh.  Charles Butler

Charles and Adam -
The Rand Keyboard is BOTH typing with your fingers on the keyboard and also point and click with your mouse. It is both….
That is better than the old SignWriter DOS program, which has no choice.
And the RAND keyboard can type directly in text fields in modern browsers. That is also a big step forward. The old DOS keyboard is stuck within its own environment.
The Rand Keyboard is also using the current ISWA 2010, so the keyboard is related to the current symbol set.
I still miss the SignWriter DOS keyboard design, but I am getting used to the Rand Keyboard design and like it too -
Try using your keyboard with your fingers on the keyboard, Charles - it works for Adam and me - it should type for you too…it will be good to get your feedback -
Val ;-)

Actually, it is not a point and click. At least not for me because I can use the keyboard just fine with it. I wonder why it isn’t working for you to type.

It's still a point and click, it is not the old SW keyboard where you actually typed sign. Typing, not clicking a keyboard, so you got used to where a specific key was. We have yet to match the simplicity of the old DOS program.
I love sign writing, I really do, as a written language. But when the best of the programs is still "point and click" you can't type sign at the speed of typing a spoken language, until we can, we will lag far behind.  Charles Butler

I have no clue why, but the messages I have sent to the SignWriting List to answer Yair’s posting below, have not made it to the SignWriting List, while other messages have made it - so who knows why? The Listserve software that runs the SignWriting List must have a reason - maybe it was the graphic I had attached - I created a screen capture of my success using the Rand Keyboard - I am excited about the fact that I am able to type with the keyboard - this is going to be an interesting presentation at the SignWriting Symposium and thank you again Yair, for this development - Val ;-)

I fixed the bug that required clicking somewhere else and then back on the text box. Thank you for pointing out the bug, Adam.
I've made some progress on getting it to work in IE, but it still has too many bugs to be usable there. Hopefully I can fix these in the coming weeks, and also do some work on getting it working in Firefox.

For those who want to try out the script on a test page without having to set up a bookmark, you can use https://googledrive.com/host/0B1Pz4n6wXAfvT18yOTFoSE5Sa2s/SWKB-ce.html , which has the script built in.
