Hello SignWriting List members!

I hope you all are well and enjoying the month of August ;-)

On Tuesday, August 10th, Adam Frost and I had a discussion about SignWriting hand symbols, with a teacher in Brazil, on Zoom. Thank you, Adam, for teaching the symbols using ASL and some Libras - I feel fortunate to have been able to provide my new Zoom account.

I am also happy to use other software too, for small meetings with SignWriting and DanceWriting users around the world. I have tried Google Meet, Zoom and the newly-enhanced Skype, and they all provide the possibility of automated spoken language captions on the screen, which helps with international meetings. Someday we will hopefully have captions for sign language too - I know that is coming ;-)

Other work this week: I am in the process of cleaning up my old web sites. Right now, I am trying to clean up the old SignWriting Shop on SignWriting.org. There will be changes there, that I will announce later.

I first posted the web site SignWriting.org in 1996, and since then it has become a bit of a monster. Every year I added more web pages. Well … now we have thousands of out-of-date pages that need to be either taken down or cleaned to become relevant for today. I enjoy web design, although I never had training for it. I use Adobe DreamWeaver software, which helps me a lot.

There are new developments around the world, in both SignWriting and DanceWriting this past week.

A new development in Brazil is coming next message. And then there will be DanceWriting posts soon too ….
