Hello Uta and everyone!

I am so happy to receive your positive reply. Let’s work together to make this a wonderful gift - we all need to learn together to do video transcription so this Library could become, someday, a real source of information in many ways - providing instruction as well as documenting video transcriptions already accomplished.

Today I am just discussing the new idea. At the moment I have highlighted three old videos from our ASL past - Adam Frost and Cherie Wren and Darline Clark-Gunsauls all deserve a big “thank-you” for all the work you did on these videos!

So how to see what I have posted so far?

First, click on this link to see a listing of the three:

SignWriting Video Transcription ASL Directory
https://www.signwriting.org/library/transcription

Listed on that page are three available right now:

1. Goldilocks in ASL by Darline Clark-Gunsauls
https://www.signwriting.org/library/transcription/transcription01.html

2. Cat in the Hat in ASL by Cherie Wren
https://www.signwriting.org/library/transcription/transcription02.html

3. Why SignWriting? in ASL by Adam Frost
https://www.signwriting.org/library/transcription/transcription03.html

So I suggest going to Number 1 because it has the best video quality of the three.

Then click on the line: SignWriting Transcription in SignPuddle and that takes you to the actual transcription - see attached screen capture

There are actually 100s of video transcriptions in SignWriting, in many sign languages, and it is my dream than someday we will have a full listing of every new transcription that occurs daily, from any country. I hope someday that all of you can post directly to post your transcription work for others to read, not only in SignPuddle, as you can do right now, but also in other directories on the internet.

Today we are used to good video quality, but nonetheless, these three videos are still valuable as excellent records of ASL storytelling and information.

When you go to a title in the directory, click on the SignWriting Transcription title above the video, and you will go to the actual sign-by-sign transcription, with many on-going pages, in SignPuddle Online. Each page includes the video clip of the transcription of that one sentence in SignPuddle, and there are arrows in SignPuddle that take you to the next sentences.

DreamWeaver handed me a Bootstrap template, to learn how to do “responsive” web pages, which I have never done before, and this new Library Directory, at the moment, is in bootstrap and it works well on a phone, but on computers I do not know what you will be seeing…oh well…I will learn slowly what works for everyone.
