[Sw-l] Writing Puckered Lips

From a Movement Writing perspective, there is a difference between closed Kiss lips with little wrinkles around the mouth, and open lips with little wrinkles around the mouth.



From a SignWriting perspective, the two symbols are there in the ISWA 2010, and I guess some writers have chosen to use one or the other…I am not sure if there is really a grammatical or technical difference when writing signs, if the mouth is slightly open or not…is it an important difference? There might be when you are kissing someone, but other than that?

Anyway, the symbol with the open mouth with wrinkles has been chosen the most by writers in SignPuddle in the ASL dictionary… I just searched by symbol, and there are more signs listed using the open mouth with wrinkles… see attached screen capture
