Hello Anna Grace and of course Carlos!
I am so sorry Carlos that I didn't see this message. I'm having a little trouble keeping up with things but I'm doing OK. I want to thank you for this message. It was excellent and Anna Grace. I think it's terrific that you are using other programs and keep us informed because there's always something new coming. It's very hard to keep up with it all…
But it's also exciting that younger people like all of you are keeping up with it and making things better, so thank you to everybody for all your messages.
There is a new Lessons in SignWriting ebook 2022 that will be posted soon in “eBook land” - in several places on the web - that may help too - that is edited and produced by Richard Gleaves and Rich did some cool new diagrams about Planes - so those I can show you soon.
But mostly I want to establish a way for the Lessons in SignWriting that we are discussing right now, to become clealy available on video - so I will try a design my concept and ask your opinion…we can make this work.
Thanks again Carlos for your answer!
Val ;-)

When I wrote my first book "Genesis 1 Written in Libras" I didn't know about this course, when the book was already in the printing house that a friend (former student who is deaf) showed me and I felt like a fool for not knowing this course.

The side-flex was not shown in diagrams in 2014. This is one of the many reasons why I am bringing out a new version of the Lessons in SignWriting Textbook in 2023, to include these new trends in the writing system.

> You will find, for example, in the old SignWriting Lessons books from Spain by Steve and Dianne Parkhurst, that in 2010 and earlier, we were placing a line for the arm, connected to the handshape, and that, along with arrows, would mean wrist movement. But that changed over time. Now the line for the arm has been moved to the Wrist-Flex symbol itself, and it is your palm facing, in the written sign, that indicates what direction the wrist flex goes - in the sign for CHEESE in ASL for example, the two hands remain contacting, while the Wrist Flex symbol shows the direction of the flex - the arrows show the movement of the hand in that direction without any other movement of the arm - it is solely the wrist. These are read well and it is more accurate than adding an arm line like the old days… but we need more instruction and examples in a more advanced book.
