January 6, 2024

Dear SW List members, and Eyasu Hailu Tamene!

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone. The year 2024 will be an outstanding year for writing sign languages with SignWriting. There are several events coming up.

REMINDER: This message is about an event online. See the message below from Eyasu Hailu Tamene, about submitting an abstract for a paper or presentation at the TISLR 15, which takes place in Ethiopia (and online) in January, 2025.

TISLR Conference website: www.tislrethiopia.org <http://www.tislrethiopia.org/>

Although the actual conference is a whole year away, and it can be attended in person or online, abstracts are due for submission THIS January 31, 2024. That is only a few weeks away!!

I spoke with Steve this morning, and we both might submit a paper. The papers can be in these 6 categories. See attached screen capture, or read about the categories on the conference web site:

I look forward to more communication when it comes time to submit abstracts for presentations and I'm glad to know that you will have a way for us to present online without traveling to Ethiopia ourselves. But of course you are always so hospitable and generous to us in Ethiopia and we do look forward to more contact now. So have a wonderful November and you will hear from me and others, most likely in early January. I believe the deadline for abstracts is at the end of January, so it will be a busy 2024!
