Dear Colleagues,

I write to pass on the sad news that Nishida Tatsuo passed away on 26th
September 2012. Nishida is easily the most productive and eminent
Tibeto-Burmanist of the 20th century. Although primarily a scholar of
Tangut, he made trail blazing contributions to Tibetan and Burmese
linguistics, and did fieldwork on a number of minority languages of China
and South East Asia.

Wikipedia has an inadequate biography and a somewhat better bibliography.
