Dear Kristine,
For anyone who is interested, we have a fund, 100% of which is going directly to the villagers of the destoryed villages of Sunkhani and, if funds permit, also to Sundravati in Dolakha district. Krishna and I are managing the bookkeeping, which will be completely transparent. Krishna is in a plane to Nepal now with tents, blankets and supplies because no rescue teams or relief have reached his villages at all. These are only two out of hundreds of villages, but the village-wise approach is at least accountable, efficient and effective. Another friend of mine in London is doing the same for his devastated village in Gorkha. Anyone interested may contact me for details.
Many good wishes,
George

Hi Kristine,
Thanks for this message. I would like to make a donation to support victims of the earthquake. Can you recommend any particular NGO or disaster relief fund that might be more effective in its use of funds or its ability to reach poorer villagers?
All the best,
Mireille

Dear Himalayan academic community:
The earthquake that shook Nepal (and the region), that killed thousands, and that injured, displaced and wounded the bodies and spirits of many more thousands in-country and abroad, was truly devastating news to us all. At this time, I can report (with considerable relief) that the professors and scholars that make up our community have been reported as safe and accounted for in some way or another.
While I (and I'm sure, you) continue to follow the emerging reports as closely as possible, if any members of this community have TB-relevant updates to report, or if corrections need to be shared, please feel free to contact me (khildeb at siue.edu<mailto:khildeb at siue.edu>) and I will share that information to the best of my ability. Feel free also to share this message with any other interested individuals or parties, in the hope of updates and accurate information.
Best wishes to all in this difficult time,
Kristine A. Hildebrandt
