Morphosyntactic Convergence and Integration in Finland Russian (Acta
Universitatis Tamperensis 795), University of Tampere. ISBN 951-44-5028-0
Electronic mode: http://acta.uta.fi/english
Key words: Language contact, genitive, word order, past participle,
grammatical gender, Northern Russian dialects, conversation analysis.
The data are tape-recorded informal research interviews with Finland-
Russian speakers. The informants are those Finland Russians whose ancestors
came to Finland between the 1700s and the 1920s. Part of them speaks a
Northern Russian dialect.
The structures under study are: (copula + )past participle used as
predicate, Finnish-partitive-like use of the genitive of the subject and
object, the word order in the noun phrase with the genitive of personal
possessor, and gender assignment to the Finnish and Swedish nouns in the
Russian context.
The data analysis is preceded by an overview of the historical development
of particular structures and the analysis of their use in Finnish, Swedish
and standard and non-standard Russian. In the data analysis the context of
use of a particular construction is taken into account.
All comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated. If you would like to
