the International Finno-Ugrist Students' Conference IFUSCO will take place
in Syktyvkar, Komi, this year. Below, you will find the first announcement
as forwarded to the URAL-LISTA list (in English, with moderator's remarks in
Finnish); the same text in Word format, including a Russian version, can be

puuhaamassa yhteistä matkajärjestelyä, apurahahakemuksia yms.

First Announcement

The Syktyvkar State University, the Ministry for Nationality Affairs of
the Republic of Komi are organizing the International Finno-Ugric Students
Conference (IFUSCO) on 23-27 September, 2003 in Syktyvkar, Komi Republic,
Russia.
    Traditionally within the frames of the Conference there are
planned the following sections: linguistics, study of literature,
folkloristics, history, ethnography, culture and arts, problems of
ethno-political development, self-government problems of the indigenous
peoples, regional, including economic development, ecology and the
indigenous peoples health.
    The social program will include a trip to a komi village.
    Accomodation will be available at hotels of Syktyvkar and the
State University.
    A Book of Abstracts will be published by the time of the
Conference. You are invited to send your applications for participation
and your abstracts in WORD regime, rtf, the length to be not more than 1.5
pages, the deadline is April 15, 2003.
    The Registration fee for foreign participants will be 200 euro,
for Russian participants the payment of the registration fee will be at
the expense of the organization sending them or at their own expense,
while their stay in Syktyvkar - at the expense of the organising side.
