Dear All,
following the request of a colleague in Helsinki, I would like to inform you
of a reprint from Artturi Kannisto's diaries, letters and field notes. The
material (in Finnish!), compiled by his daughter Tytti Kannisto and first
published in the JSFOu in 1964, conveys a vivid picture of the work of a
field linguist in Russia and Siberia one hundred years ago, when Mansi
informants still knew Mansi far better than Russian... Kannisto's
descendants have now published a reprint of the material, and the book can
be ordered from kirsi.kannisto-solin at kolumbus.fi .
Best,
Johanna
