Dear colleagues,

in a previous posting of mine, I quoted a few lines from a message sent by
Cornelius Hasselblatt. The message itself, however, was caught in the taboo
word filter of the list and never came through. Below, for the sake of
clarity, the whole text by Cornelius Hasselblatt from 14 December.

Dear colleagues,
I am not interested in the study of racism and
irrationalism, I do not care whether a certain historical
person known as Jesus was Jew or Buddhist or an African,
and finally I am not willing to deal to much with things
far off my field of interest. Juslenius showed in the 18th
century that Finnish was related to Hebrew, let some
Hungarians show us that their Runic script was developed
in heaven. I will state for my part that the oldest
Estonian folk songs have been sung on the moon.
Who cares? Don't worry. We need not interfere. Let us just
teach our students as we have done all the time, then
everything will be allright. Just stop quoting bullshit
authors, stop inviting them with all the nice
Socrates-Erasmus-Plato-Aristoteles money and give your
comment whenever asked. But let not spoil your ambition
and your love for the issue -- and that is dealing with
Finno-Ugric Studies and spreading knowledge about the
Finno-Ugric cultures among the Indo-European world.
