> The department is especially interested in research that places literary and other cultural expressions in their broader social and historical contexts. As the members of the Scandinavian Department all work across disciplines, we require that candidates for this position also exhibit expertise in a secondary field. Examples of highly desirable secondary fields could include: Folklore/Cultural Studies, History of Ideas, Medieval Studies, Early Modern Studies, Comparative Literature, or Art History. Fluency in a modern mainland Scandinavian language (Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish) is required. The candidate is expected to contribute courses to the undergraduate and graduate programs in Scandinavian; a successful candidate will also be able to design courses that can appeal to students working in other academic fields. Demonstrated research excellence and teaching ability are required. Applicants at all stages of the Assistant Professor track as well as recent graduates are !
