[Ura-list] REMODUS Winter School 2024, Uppsala, 5-10 February

Dear colleagues,
The 2024 Winter School of Finno-Ugric Studies, part of the
Erasmus+-funded strategic partnership REMODUS, will be held at Uppsala
University in Sweden between *5 and 10 February 2024*.
The winter school will be a hybrid teaching event: students can
participate in person, or over the Internet. There is a limited number
of slots available for in-person participation; travel grants are
available for in-person participants. If you wish to participate and are
at one of the universities in the REMODUS consortium (Budapest, Hamburg,
Helsinki, Munich, Riga, Szeged, Tartu, Turku, Uppsala, Vienna), please
inform your local professor *by 17 December*; we will inform accepted
students by the end of the following week. If you are not at one of
these universities and wish to participate, please inform Jeremy Bradley
(jeremy.moss.bradley at univie.ac.at

wish to participate in person or online. Prospective participants will
receive further information in the due course of time.
The winter school will consist of:
* Courses on Earliest Written Finnic (Rogier Blokland) and Old Finnish
(Merlijn de Smit, Rogier Blokland)
* Workshops on language revitalization in theory and practice
(Riitta-Liisa Valijärvi) and modelling language contact and AI (Petar
Kehayov)
* Three guest lectures (Birsel Karakoç: An introduction to Turkic;
Michael Dunn: An introduction to Paleo-Siberian; Matti Miestamo:
Negation in Uralic languages and beyond)
* A student colloquium
