[Ura-list] Reminder: CIFU14 Symposium B.12 "Building diachronic corpora for minority languages – facing methodological challenges" (Tartu, August 18–23 2025)

Dear everybody,

If you are in any way involved in corpus building initiatives, either from
technical or data collection and curation side, we'd like to direct your
attention to our symposium at next year's Congressus XIV Internationalis
Fenno-Ugristarum (CIFU XIV):

The abstract submission deadline is 30 September 2024; see

We want to stress that we're aiming for a "mixed" audience here: we'll be
equally happy about contributions pertaining to technological challenges as
we'll be about contributions dealing with philological, linguistic, and
terminological matters that arise when building corpora for low-resource
languages. Our main hope is to facilitate an exchange of know-how, so the
broader the profiles of our participants, the better!

For those interested, we are in 2025 tentatively planning a special issue
of the University of Vienna's soon-to-be-launched e-journal DENKART
pertaining to the intersection of Uralic / Finno-Ugric linguistics and
literature studies on the one hand and digital humanities and computational
linguistics on the other and would be happy to accommodate contributions
(including short-form papers) that might spring from this symposium.
