You might want to take a look at Norihiko Ucida's HINDI PHONOLOGY: TREATMENT
OF MIDDLE INDO-ARYAN VOWEL SEQUENCES IN MODERN HINDI (Simant Publications,
1977). It contains a good deal of usable material on the subject.
